WHY BAISAKHI IS CELEBRATED?

 Sikhs commemorate key events in the history of Sikhism and the Indian subcontinent that took place in the Punjab region on Baisakhi. Baisakhi commemorates the founding of the Khalsa order by Guru Gobind Singh, Sikhism's tenth Guru, on April 13th, 1699. On April 12, 1801, Ranjit Singh has declared Maharaja of the Sikh Empire, establishing a united political state. Baisakhi was also the day Reginald Dyer ordered his forces to open fire on a mob of protesters, an event that became known as the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
